Darjeeling has been the single most favored holiday destination for Bengalis (with Puri, Odisha giving a good fight for the same favored place). It has been a fancy across generations, from the newspaper reading one of my dad’s age or the ever-scrolling generation of mine.
And one place has been the Mecca for tea lovers – Nathmull’s in Darjeeling. From the more affordable tea leaves to the super exotic flavours, this place has its own fan following.
So what happens when in the newspaper , we read that the Nathmull’s current owners have opened a tea boutique?
The Whistling Kettle… that’s the place. Right next to the lane of Mouchak near Golpark, this cute little tea boutique serves the world of Nathmull’s along with…. The famed Keventers breakfast menu!

Well the Honumans could hardly wait and landed up there on the May day evening.
The entrance is lined with a wall full of colorful crockery, kettles and a miniature Darjeeling Himalayan Railway steam engine and other end lined with varieties of Nathmull’s tea.
Sweltering heat throughout the day and yearning for rain – all these finally found its salvation in the cup of Nathmull’s lemon tea.
A refreshing pot of that and suitably complimented by the famed Meat Platter… Yes from Keventers again!

What more could we ask for? Nathmull’s and Keventers within our reach, by short ride.
We also ordered Spaghetti Bolognese and two thin crust pizzas – one Margherita and one Pepperoni. While Spaghetti Bolognese and Margherita was an instant hit, however the meat in Pepperoni left us bit underwhelmed.

Needless to say, at the end of this sojourn, we were content and full. Guess what – all these with a slice of marble cake, made a pocket pinch of only INR. 1275/-.
As of today, they accept only cash. Their manager informed that by this week, both POS terminal for card and PayTM would be installed.
Monkey Verdict: This Cha rocks. And the accompanying ‘Ta’ is just like Jay and Veeru!
👍 from the Foodie Monkey!
Finally leaving with a fitting ‘tea’ tribute.
